Mountain Biking |
Regardless of the way the media portrays it, mountain biking is not just a sport for the Red Bull-guzzling extreme maniacs who throw themselves off of cliffs without a second thought. It's an excellent family activity, enjoyed by people of all ages. Our home trail is Sal Hollow at Mammoth Cave National Park. When we were orginally granted access to it, it was a muddy, overgrown trail that no one wanted to use. After our years of maintenance, repair, and rerouting, it has become one of the most popular trails in the park for hikers and mountain bikers alike. Horses are currently not allowed on Sal Hollow Trail. Mountain biking is a fun activity, but it's important to know the rules of the trail:
And the most important rule of all: Have fun!Having a good place to ride takes effort from everyone. Sal Hollow wouldn't be the trail it is without the many hours spent to maintain it. Anyone interested in riding with the Trail Care Crew is encouraged to contact Johnny Johnson for a trail maintenance schedule. Want more information about mountain biking with BGLOB?
