The 4th annual Mammoth Cave Fall mountain bike campout will be Nov. 14 and Nov. 15. Arriving Friday setting up camp. Plan on riding Saturday morning at 10:00 and a night ride that evening. A faster pace ride will be Sunday morning about the same time. Bring camping gear, food and drink. Hamburgers will be provided Saturday night. Update: Although John has sadly passed away, this benefit and blood drive is still planned.
John Phillips of Franklin KY was seriously injured while riding his bicycle in mid-October 2008. On November 16, 2008, there will be a blood drive and silent auction for the Phillips family. Details are as follows:
Location: First United Methodist Church in Franklin.
12:30pm – 5:30pm - Blood Drive
A brunch will be provided by the church before the blood drive.
5:00 pm - Benefit Supper and Silent Auction
Anyone wanting to prepare a basket for the silent auction, or help with cooking the supper, or donate goods for the supper, please contact Sheryl Brady 270-776-2629 or Julie Walters at 270-776-3934. All proceeds will be placed in a trust fund at Integra Bank.
Trust Fund: A trust fund has been set up at Integra Bank in the name of “Gina Phillips Benefit Account”. You can deposit into the account from any Integra Bank.

The Mammoth Cave NP Backcountry Summit Council workdays for this fall will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, Saturday, November 15, 2008 (which is also America Recycles Day.) All workdays will commence at 9AM CST at the Maple Springs parking area, near the trailhead and restrooms. All tools and equipment will be provided for each work day. Bring a bike to ride in to the work areas.
