Meeting Regarding Big Hollow Trail, Mammoth Cave National Park

From Johnny Johnson (BGLOB Mountain Bike VP):
Just wanted to keep you all in the loop. If anyone is interested in going to the meeting on Nov. 19 let me know and I will let Larry know. Since this trail will be in a National Park it would be nice if it were one of the best trails in the area such as Raccoon Mountain in Chattanogga TN or Brown County in Indiana.

Thanks,
Johnny J.

Subject: Meeting regarding Big Hollow Trail, Mammoth Cave National Park

Mammoth Cave National Park will be hosting a meeting of the Backcountry Summit Council and all other interested groups or parties at the Training Center at Mammoth Cave NP at 6pm central time on Thursday, November 19, 2009 to discuss the implementation phase for the proposed Big Hollow Trail at Mammoth Cave National Park. This new trail is to be a hiking/biking trail, as outlined in the Comprehensive Trail Management Plan, and is to be located east of North Green River Ferry Road (Stockholm Road,) opposite of Maple Springs.

The general corridor of the trail has been flagged on the ground, and is currently awaiting archeological clearance and final planning to begin construction. During this meeting, the superintendent would like to explore and discuss all possible options for construction of the trail. As you may be aware, there are many options which may considered, including building the tail through the traditional project/funding procedures, contracting all or part of the process, considering proposals such as donations of funds, labor, materials, etc. and use of organized volunteers, groups, partners in any and all phases of the process. The superintendent would also like to discuss formalizing/updating Memorandums of Understanding and/or Group Volunteer Agreements with organizations who might like to commit time or services to building the trail.

All interested groups are encouraged to have one or two representatives attend the meeting to exchange communications as the planning process continues.
